LAST 4 years accomplishments
What has happened in MVLA and activities for which I have advocated!
*selection of superintendent Nellie Meyer, welcoming many new staff.
*Ushering MVLA though the rough COVID times with calm, consistent, and collaborative actions. MVLA procedures used by many other districts as models of efficient and effective management of COVID. As part of COVID ALL (students and teachers) were forced into rapid learning about hardware and software needed to do on-line school. Digital divide needs were addressed and network and other school infrastructure was upgraded. As well as, MVLA upgraded heating and airconditioning and filtering and installed equipment to address campus safety.
*Continuing
option B (on-line option) as permanent program to address needs and preference of some students and families. (model program state-wide)
*Facilitating installation of lights at the fields of MVHS and LAHS.
*More and more wellness services and restructuring.
*More CTE and alternative options.
*Doubled the size of Middle College program
*English Learners classes added to LAHS.
*Ethnic Studies pilot class intiatiated as optional with double
enrollment from expected.
*More intentially incorporating equity in ALL activities and for ALL students.
*Completed many classrooms at MVHS and LAHS with Measure E bond funds. Revamped
fields at MVHS and LAHS. Started new student services building at LAHS and MVHS. Started new Freestyle academy building construction. Completed new LAHS auxilary gym and almost finished MVHS auxillary gym.
